Product Information

Many of us remember that comfortable old porch swing at grandma's house or the cottage. It wasn't hard like most of the wood ones you buy today. It was made of canvas, had a mattress on a wood or metal spring base and hung from the ceiling of the front porch with cotton rope. How great it was to curl up in. A cozy corner to snooze or read.

That porch swing was but a distant childhood memory until one day I saw a modern version of one. Made of colorful cotton fabrics (I think) and polyester rope it was beautiful, so comfortable and a real decorator item - it added a great splash of color to the sun room it was in. I thought - "we could make that" and after several failed attempts here it is.

Our porch swing has a wood base that holds a foam mattress covered in awning grade Sunbrella fabric. This is surrounded by Sunbrella fabric ends and back and has an olefin rope hanging harness and a Canadian hard maple spreader bar on each end. Attached to the sides at each end are magazine holders. The porch swing shown here has three small pillows but we have decided that two larger pillows would be better, so that is what you will get unless you ask for something different.

Each porch swing is made to order so you can choose the colors you would like. The price you pay will depend on your fabric choice. To see your fabric options please visit the Sunbrella website and view their large selection of fabric in the awning fabric showroom.
